More than twenty-five vendors will line the streets of Wheeler District as the neighborhood hosts its first ever farmers market on May 5th. Every Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., visitors can enjoy shopping for fresh produce, baked goods, and other handmade items. Vendors include The Big Friendly, Rescue Dog Hot Sauce, Homestead Baking, and more.
Wheeler District Vice President of Development, Ashley Terry, said “the farmers market has been a long time in the making.”
Joe Quinlin, part owner of The Big Friendly, made a pitch to the Wheeler District team after partnering with a few local businesses looking for a farmers market to be a part of. After realizing that this could be our chance to achieve one of our long-term goals, the Wheeler District Team got straight to work.
“Wheeler District is a dynamic, active community, so a family-friendly farmers market has been a goal for years, said Terry. The market is bringing homegrown and handmade goods to the district while supporting local small businesses from all over Oklahoma”
The farmers market will run through October 27th and will combine monthly with the Spoke Street Night Market to offer even more products and services. On Spoke Street Night Market nights, you can expect to see around 60+ vendors lining the urban core of the district!
