Wheeler Home has partnered with solar company EightTwenty to further maximize energy efficiency and minimize the carbon footprint of new construction homes in the Wheeler District.
A Proud Partnership
EightTwenty is headquartered in Oklahoma City and has been greatly involved in the greater community. Conducting community-centered solar installation on projects such as RestoreOKC’s Farmers Market, and the City Care Night Shelter.
“Partnering with Wheeler Home has only increased EightTwenty’s ability to create raving fans as we come alongside a home builder and community that has that same goal in mind. It is no longer just a dream to create and live in a community focused on sustainable living where everyone and everything is given the potential to thrive.
Living “net zero” in your home is now truly attainable by powering a very well-built and efficient home with the combination of EightTwenty’s electrical and solar installation. Our hope is to electrify everything with the power of the sun allowing home and business owners alike to feel good about how they live and work.”

Seamlessly Sustainable
During a property’s construction phase, EightTwenty electricians install needed material that allow each home to be “solar ready” which gives the homeowner the opportunity to add solar panels anytime during their ownership without going through the rewiring process.
In fact, Wheeler Home offers a number of properties with solar panels already installed which are included in the home’s purchase price.
“At Wheeler Home, we push ourselves to build homes within the Wheeler District community that are both beautiful and energy efficient. As of today, all homes being built in Wheeler are net zero ready.
Partnering with a company like EightTwenty allows Wheeler Home to build homes that are efficiently powered by the sun. How amazing is that!”
– Joshua Kitchen Wheeler Home, Vice President
“Wheeler Home strives to build the most efficient homes. The next step for us was adding solar. All of our homes are now solar ready or solar is installed. In most cases, solar is accounting for 100% of our buyer’s electrical demands resulting in huge savings.
EightTwenty was a good partnership in that it’s a company that aligns with us and has similar core values. We’ve been able to work together to add a great product to what was already a great home.”
– Greg McAlister Wheeler Home, President
Community impact
“[EightTwenty CEO and co-founder] Tony came to visit with us and went over the advantages with EightTwenty. We went with their system as well as their battery backup. We’ve had… outages in our neighborhood since we had it installed, but we don’t even have a blip in our system, so we’ve been very pleased with that. That’s been one of the big advantages for us.
“Our bills have come down considerably after we change to the net metering system with EightTwenty and with OG&E. It gives me great assurance knowing that our electrical bills are steady they don’t change over the next 20-30 years. As we all know, gasoline, food, everything’s going up right now and it really gives me great assurance to know that [power is] one thing that I can control going forward.”
– Randy Martin Wheeler District Homeowner
“Right now, living solar is a choice. With that intentionality and the excitement behind the technology, it really kind of brings things to this human scale and this way that people can interact and incorporate it into their everyday life.
“Bringing solar energy here is just something that I think is really important and something that our residents are excited to have.”
– Ashley Terry Wheeler District, Vice President of Development
